Morph
About Morph – Daily Shifting Word Game
Morph is a word game where the answer moves. You start against a five-letter word and guess as you would in any other word game, with green, gold and grey clues. Then, before your next turn, the word changes — to a different word, usually of a different length.
What makes it fair rather than infuriating is the one rule the answer cannot break: it may only become a word that satisfies every clue it has already given you. A green stays green in the same position, a gold letter stays present, a grey letter stays absent. Nothing you learned is ever revoked, so the clue set only tightens, and the puzzle is a hunt for the point where the word has nowhere left to run.
That point exists more often than you would expect: a little over half of all games end with the word cornered — no legal move remaining — rather than with a lucky direct hit. The word tends to grow rather than shrink, because a green letter deep in a word makes every shorter word impossible. An optional strict mode holds your guesses to the clues too, the puzzle resets at midnight Budapest time, and past days stay playable in the archive.
How to play Morph
Guess the word. After every guess it becomes a different word — of a different length.
- Start with five letters and guess as you would normally.
- The word then moves, but only to a word that fits every clue you already have.
- Greens stay in their positions, so a long word is easier for it to hide in.
- Corner it — leave it nowhere to go — and it has to stand still.
