About Three Letters – Daily Word Puzzle

Three Letters is a daily word game with one hidden three-letter word and 8 guesses to find it. Everyone playing that day gets the same word. Each guess must be a real word of exactly 3 letters, and comes back coloured: green where a letter sits in the right place, gold where it belongs somewhere else in the word, grey where it is not in the answer at all.

Short words are the hard ones, which is why this board gets 8 guesses rather than the six a longer one does. A three-letter guess returns only 3 letters of information, and the pool is dense with words that differ by a single letter, so eliminations come slowly and a bad opener can cost you most of the round. A simulated solver needs noticeably more attempts here than on a seven-letter board.

An optional strict mode holds every guess to the clues you have already uncovered, which is tighter than the hard mode most word games ship: it honours grey letters and the "not in this position" half of a gold clue, not only confirmed greens. The puzzle resets at midnight Budapest time, streaks and statistics are kept per game, and past days stay playable in the archive without touching your daily streak.

How to play Three Letters

Find the hidden three-letter word in 8 guesses.

1. Green letters are correct and in the right place.
2. Gold letters occur elsewhere in the word.
3. Gray letters are not used again unless the answer contains another copy.
